Ratan Bihari Temple
A
splendid temple building made of white marble. It is a fine example
of indo-Mugal architecture, situated on King Edward Memorial Road, near
Junagarh fort. The
temple was built by the 18th ruler of Bikaner state, Lord
Ratan Singh, in 1846
A.D., it is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The outer portion of this
temple has an
ethereal beauty. The sanctum of the temple is unique where the idol of
Lord
Krishna and his girl friend are fixed. The temple has very spacious
quadrangle floor made
of marble. Arcade design the Quadrangle floor makes the sight very
magnificent. You are recommended to se the sight of this lovely
temple.
Note: - You may take photograph
of temple building from outside and inside, but Photography of the idol is
prohibited.
Additional Information about the area
Just
adjacent to the marble temple there is another temple made of red
sandstone. It is also dedicated to Lord Krishna. That temple was built
by the 19th ruler of the Bikaner state. Namely Lord Sardar
Singh. Its opening time is the same mentioned
earlier.
Ratan Bihari Garden
Both
of those stone temples are situated in one Garden of the state of the
state
times. The garden was called Ratan Bihari Garden. The garden
interesting. You are
incited to see the garden. Junagarh fort is very close to this
garden, in fact; you can
see the outer portion of Junagarh fort from there.
How to get the Ratan Bihari Temple and
Garden
It
is hardly one K.M. from of the city (old Railway Station) and if you
are staying in any
of the hotels of the center then you can go walking, Because while
going to this
temple you will also cross the new shopping complex of Bikaner city,
which will also
be interesting for you. If
you don’t like walking then the other suggested way is to join the
conducted sight
seeing tour organized by the Desert Tours, An independent way of
visiting this
temple, is to hire an Auto rickshaw (it may cost RS. 6/- approximately
for two
travellers) If
you want make your city seeing tour more interesting then join the
city safari,
(camel tour) organized by the Desert Tours. It costs RS. 150/- Per
head: Included
